Space flight isn’t easy!

Last night, an unmanned Antares rocked exploded shortly after leaving the launchpad in Virginia, USA.

Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of equipment, ranging from “classified cryptographic” gear to school science experiments, was destroyed in a giant fireball.

The video below shows the explosion from the air.

I know I have a biased view, but the Airbus Defence and Space made Ariane 5 rocket has a track record of 62 successful launches in a row. This incident shows just how difficult it is to build and launch a rocket, and how remarkable the Ariane is as a launch vehicle.
