Galileo, orbit problems, and replay of launch

Galileo is the European GPS system, and will work alongside American GPS and the Russian Glonass systems.

The satellites were integrated at SSTL in Surrey.

Following the successful launch of the two Galileo satellites, Doresa and Milena on a Soyuz rocket, an announcement was made by Arianespace on the anomalies of the orbit injection.

They have been placed on a lower orbit than expected.

Both satellites have been acquired and are safely controlled and operated from ESOC, ESA’s Operations Centre in Darmstadt, Germany.
